Do you read art ?! Series 2 – Episode 4: David C.T. Terry

The Do you read art?! series is a collection of interviews produced by Valentina Galossi in Berlin in 2021. Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with David C. Terry – an accomplished American artist, curator, and the Director of C24 Gallery in Chelsea, New York.

With over 100 exhibitions to his name, David is a highly regarded figure both nationally and internationally. He also serves as a panelist for the New York State Council on the Arts, demonstrating his commitment to supporting the arts community. As Director of C24 Gallery, David is passionate about addressing important issues affecting marginalized communities such as race, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, and the environment. He approaches these topics with a highly engaged and active mindset.

During our conversation, David will be sharing a personal memory related to his family history and a very special art book that has had a significant impact on his art practice. The book in question is an edition from 1965, containing the complete works of Michelangelo. According to David, this art book has been a “trained impulse” for his mind and his art practice, and it holds a special place in his family’s history. Even now, Michelangelo’s influence can be seen in David’s recent artwork, such as “The Creation.” As David puts it, “It is never going away.”
